Hello, people who ride bikes,
I am writing to let you know that I am organizing a Cranksgiving in Portland again this year.
If you are unfamiliar with Cranksgiving, it is a grassroots bike-based, scavenger hunt and food drive with a Thanksgiving theme. The first event was over 20 years ago in NYC, and now there are hundreds of them each year in different cities across the US.
The event will begin at 11 on Saturday, November 13 at the Gear Hub on Washington Av. At that time each participant will receive the list of items to purchase and locations to purchase them from. You can ride fast or slow, try to be the first to collect all the items, or take your time biking around Portland collecting donations for the Westbrook Food Pantry. All items will be collected at Rising Tide Brewery on Fox Street loaded into a Summer Feet Van and delivered to Westbrook.
It is always a fun event and a great opportunity to do something for the less fortunate this holiday season.
