Description:

Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels—part bike ride, part scavenger hunt. The event is FREE, but you'll need a minimum $25 to purchase food.

Here's how it works:

The Start

Beginning at high noon Saturday, November 4 at GoodSpeed, Crankies (you) can pick up a manifest listing area grocery stores and food items.

The Objective

Using any route, and in any order you'd like, go shopping by bike, buying at least one item from every store on the list and delivering it all by bike to Rabid Brewing (taking as many trips as you need to) by 4pm.

The Stores

You can start your ride at any time after noon, but you have to finish by 4pm at Rabid. Follow your own routes, or use our suggested routes.

The Shopping List

You can pick up the shopping list on Saturday, November 4 beginning at 12pm at GoodSpeed Cycles.

Here are some ideas for portaging your food and items to Rabid:

• Large backpack
• Bike basket
• A rear bike rack with a bag, or bungies, or duct tape, or all three
• A kid's bike trailer (with or without kid)
• Split the shopping into two (or more) deliveries to Rabid
• Split a list with another rider(s)
• Hire a follow car that carries everything, and just before you roll up at Rabid, load all the items into a garbage bag and sling it over your shoulder like a Cycling Santa (nothing's really cheating when the goal is to feed people).

The Finish

When you finish at Rabid by 4pm, laden with food and sundries, we'll celebrate your cleverness, your swiftness, your thoroughness, and your generosity, awarding prizes and partying. We'll buy everyone who completes the shopping list their Rabid beverage of choice.

The enormous pile of food and items will be donated to Restoration Ministries in Harvey for distribution through their food pantry and aid programs.
