Cranksgiving Returns! Baltimore Cyclists Pedal with a Purpose to Conquer Hunger

BALTIMORE, MD – Get ready to ride, give, and celebrate! Bikemore's eleventh-annual Cranksgiving returns to Baltimore on Saturday, November 22, promising a high-energy mix of cycling, charity, and community. This unique alley-cat style food drive will send hundreds of riders across the city on a scavenger hunt with a purpose: filling the shelves of the Franciscan Center and Moveable Feast food pantries.

 

Cranksgiving is more than just a bike ride—it's a race against the clock to collect food for those in need, with fun challenges, prizes, and a lively afterparty waiting at the finish line. The event kicks off at noon at the Harborplace Light Street Pavilion, 301 Light Street, running until 3 p.m.. An afterparty celebration follows with food, beer, prizes and a silent auction.

 

"It's about the simple joy of riding your bike, the deep satisfaction of helping those in our community, and the camaraderie of doing it all with friends—both old and new," says Jed Weeks, Bikemore's Interim Executive Director. "But let's be honest, the real prize is all the fun we have along the way."

 

No registration is required to join the fun, and while entry is free, participants should come prepared to spend at least $20 on groceries to donate. Cranksgiving is a powerful example of how a bicycle can be a practical, sustainable vehicle for transportation, whether for running errands, commuting, or simply riding for joy.

 

The event's success is fueled by the generosity of corporate sponsors, whose donations keep Bikemore's vital work moving forward. Sonya Thomas, Development Director, said, "It's a fantastic cause, and every contribution makes a real difference."
